Description

The Network of Sustainable Schools in the Madrid Region (Spain) is a Programme that belongs to the Environmental Education Programme of the Regional Centre for Innovation and Teacher Training (CRIF “Las Acacias”).
Our activities are aimed at every public and private school in the whole Region of Madrid.
Our target is training teachers from Primary and Secondary schools, with varied skills related to school teaching, that teach different subjects using their digital competences and active methodologies, and they share the interest in actions for sustainable development, both curriculars and participatives.
Financial resources come from Madrid Regional Government.

ESD-related Activities:
- Courses and activities for teachers.
- Field activities for students.
- Creation and curation of resources for teachers and students.

Objectives of the Madrid Region Sustainable Schools Programme.

1. The general objectives of the Programme are:

- Involve the education community in the implementation of pedagogical innovation projects related to the environment and that can constitute a hallmark for the school.
- Encourage teacher training in active methodologies and strategies for the exchange of good practices.
- To facilitate students the achievement of basic competences based on the information provided by the environment and daily life.
- Foster individual and group positive attitudes aimed at achieving the objectives of environmental, social and economic sustainability.

2. The objectives for teacher training are:

- Encourage teachers to develop innovative projects, plans or programs of environmental action that favor the transformation of the school.
- Provide technical and administrative advice for the execution of environmental plans in the school.
- Recognition of the work of the schools and their teachers.

The Madrid Region Sustainable Schools Programme is planned over three years in which the school develops three phases of activity:

- First year: Initial phase. "WORKING METHODOLOGIES AND STRATEGIES".
- Second year: Follow-up phase. "TRANSFORMATION OF SCHOOLS: FROM CONTEXT TO CURRICULUM".
- Third year: Completion phase. " PROJECTION TOWARDS ENVIRONMENT".
